The Second Studio project was to design an Artist Retreat on Aalloa hills, a place near Ahmedabad with Sabarmati river flowing through it's landform. The dusty environment and the sparse vegetation on the site evoked the idea of having gardens in my retreat. In my retreat there are two courtyards, one which binds the workspaces and another which binds the residences together and a multifunctional space which acts as a transition space between the two. The main concept behind the designing of the spaces is to play with levels and to interlock volumes. The main requirements of the projects were - arrival lounge, residences, dining, kitchen, painting workshop, sculpting workshop, multifunctional space, caretaker's residence.
