Craft + Future = Hybrid

The theme of this semester was Crafts and Future. Thinking about the future, visualizing the future scenario and designing in accordance with it was one of the major aspects of learning from this semester’s studio. Learning to visualize the future of crafts and predicting their use and adaptability our future scenario’s by integrating them into space design. This semester further, gave an insight into learning and documenting about different crafts prevailing in western India by doing field visits. To construct contemporary craft design prototypes, material samples and making interesting design interventions by working in team with the craftsperson. Further the project involved doing research and application of design ideas into a space simultaneously while thinking of aspects like core qualities, who will be the user, cost analysis, practicality, making time, material explorations, colour preference and uniqueness in design when working with the selected crafts.
