Timber Fabric - Computational design

Through the increasing Integration of computer-based methods of generative processes in architecture, there are new possibilities to incorporate and integrate reciprocal interrelations between material, space, structure and system into the design process effectively. In this project such possibilities were investigated through physical experiments and the use of computer-based generative algorithms based on the material wood (Veneer sheet) and Aluminium. The design development was based on a simple inter-weaving of the strips which was an integral part of the entire project: The fact, that even a very simple manipulation set such as the position, length and number of strips in each module could be varied almost infinitely, resulted in numerous variations By varying the length and direction of weaving the veneer-strip, the system was created to achieve maximum stability and diversity in form, which led to the development of an entire structure
