Sustainable Landfill Management

For decades, waste management in Vadodara has been simple disposal of waste materials to landfills or other designated sites. While much of the change in how waste is disposed is clearly been seen, as there are increasing number efforts by VMC, one of them being construction scientific disposal site at Jambuva (SWM Dept. 2018). This change is approach was seen as a reactive way to the major SWM problems the city has been facing. Arguably, the current situation still reflects increasing problems/number of issues faced at the stage of disposing waste. It is also debated that the biggest impact of improper waste management is largely seen at this stage of waste disposal. Therefore, managing waste at its end stage of disposal is becoming crucial. This was further analyzed and studied with a broader vision to complete the chain of circular economy of SWM for Vadodara by “Developing a resource-efficient waste management plan for Vadodara”.
