Metropolitan planning studio 2018

The studio was intended to understand planning at a Metropolitan scale. Two Metropolitan cities were selected for the study that is the Bangalore Metropolitan region and Chennai Metropolitan area. Chennai Metropolitan region was selected as it has recently increased its area from 1178 sqkm to 8878 sqkm which is almost eight times of the existing region. The new area notified did not have any planning system in place except for a few Municipalities and municipal corporation. The Entire institutional framework was analyzed and an evolved institutional framework was proposed with its functions along with a strategic proposal for transport and environment
