Odhav - A stagnant industrial neighbourhood

The city of Ahmedabad is located in the state of Gujarat in the western parts of India. Ahmedabad is the seventh largest metropolis in India and the largest in the state. The city is known as the commercial capital of Gujarat and is known as the textile capital of India. The development of Ahmedabad is strongly related to the rise of the indigenous industrial sector of cotton industry and its growth from medieval times from a major trading centre for gold, silk and cotton. The establishment of the first cotton mill in 1861 was the way in which industries expanded over the years.Since industrial activities of the industrial estates become urban generators of the city, to change the use of land from agriculture to developed land, the physical morphology of the urban areas changes.
