Usmanpura: diversity and interconnectivity

The focus has been on the inter dependency and cross pollination of various analytical macro and micro factors centralizing a square kilometer precinct of Usmanpura and Sardar Patel colony. Significant contrasts between the two areas of the city are noticed here as the precinct lies in an intermediate region being divided by the Rail Road (presently construction site of Ahmedabad Metro Railway Project). The precinct is punctuated by various religious landmarks, institutions, historical monument, retails, developed road conditions and home to a pluralistic community. Sardar Patel Colony is mostly residential and dotted with developments induced by residential community. The infrastructural services in the precinct are highly developed with well defined road network. The Ahmedabad metro line is being constructed through the precinct from North to South promising more amenities in the precinct. This will also affect the land price causing a surge in property valuation and cost. Hemmed at North, east and west by major arterial roads like Sardar Patel Road, New Ashram road this 1 sq km area precinct houses a population of 35000 people of various income and faith. In day time the population rises to 37000 as the precinct provides employment to a significant amount of people with 14356 job centers. The position of the precinct is well connected by road way by the Gandhi bridge (connecting Eastern and Western side of Sabarmati river). A small group of diverse social structure exists here. The informal economies in the precinct are thriving depending on the official group of people on the commercial streets proving the diversified existence which interconnected.
