Environmental Impact Assessment

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is done for projects having investments of Rs. 50 crores and above as per the Environmental Protection Act, 1986. Construction of Metro rail project does not come under this act. So, it is done for seeking loan from Asian Development Bank (ADB) as per their guidelines of SPS, 2009. It is done to baseline baseline environmental conditions and then assess the impacts as a result of the proposed project and to take effective measures for mitigation of negative impact.
