DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF SPECIAL BRIDGE ACROSS CHENAB

CHENAB BRIDGE IS BEING CONSTRUCTED OVER RIVER CHENAB IN JAMMU & KASHMIR.ONCE COMPLETED IT WILL BE THE WORLD'S HIGHEST RAILWAY ARCH BRIDGE WITH A HEIGHT OF 359 METER FROM THE RIVER BED.THE 1315 METER LONG BRIDGE WILL HAVE 17 SPANS INCLUDING THE MAIN ARCH SPAN.MAIN ARCH WILL HAVE A SPAN OF 467 METER ACROSS RIVER CHENAB WHICH GIVES ANOTHER DISTINCTION TO THIS BRIDGE BEING THE LONGEST SINGLE SPAN RAILWAY ARCH BRIDGE.ESTIMATED VALUE OF THE PROJECT IS OVER 1300 CRORE.DESIGNING CONSULTANTS ARE FROM GERMANY AND FINLAND WHEREAS THE PROJECT IS OVERLOOKED BY KONKAN RAILWAY AND EXECUTED BY AFCONS INFRASTRUCTURE LIMITED
