As part of the redevelopment project anticipated, the existing railway station would be upgraded and new station building, conforming to international standards equipped with modern facilities is planned. The station redevelopment would be accompanied by hospitality development on the air space rights whereby a 300 room 5-star hotel will be developed. The integration of convention and exhibition space infrastructure currently available in the vicinity of the railway station creates synergies for both the existing infrastructure and re-development envisaged with hotel complex and improves upon the attractiveness of the overall project. The Project is taken up by Gandhinagar Railway & Urban Development Corporation Limited (GARUD) which is a joint venture of Government of Gujarat and Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC).
