As a part of the Environmental impact Assessment Lab 2016 under the guidance of professor Neeru Bansal and Professor Saswat Bandhopadyay it was decided to assume a more pro active role for an academic excersice. And hence it was decided to conduct a Cumulative environment impact assessment study opposed to the more project specific Environmental impact assessment. To conduct the CEIA Sanand taluka was selected owing to its very unique charcter of sudden industrial growth ( post 2008 ) , presence of two ecologically sensitive zone both of which making it conducive for a strong high end residential development. To commence the studio firstly a thorough study of the legal notifications followed by various other reports and articles enabled the studio to formulate its parameters and frameword on how to proceed with the CEIA for the site. After making various considerations in terms of future investments ,proximity to ecological zones and also because of its sheer size the Sanand GIDC II was selected as our core area around which considering the standard practice of 10km buffer the study area was delineated. The study was conducted during the months of july to novemeber 2016 in the process of which different sectors where identified - Land , Socio-Economic ,Water , Air , Bio-diversity & Risk . As a first step baseline was esatablished for all sectors after which based on most probable scenario of projections possible impacts for the future was assessed and based on the nature of the issue highlighted an Envrionment Management plan was created . As an value addition to the already existing framework the studio identified environmental augmentative endeavours that can be adopted by GIDC and further a way forward to siting of any future industries was also added.
