Redevelopment Project at Gurukul road, Ahmedabad

The objective of this studio is to understand the process of a real estate project, hands on. It focuses on feasibility studies, implementation strategies and delivery of the designed program to the end users. In lieu to this, our group has looked at a redevelopment project. This is important in today’s context, as our cities are subjected to development pressures, not just in the Greenfield areas, but in the brownfield areas as well. Urban infrastructure projects, have affected the way the city grows. Hence the land and property markets are forever dynamic, subjected to peer pressures to exploit maximum potential out of what they have. We have hence identified a site in Gurukul road, Ahmedabad, which is subjected to similar pressures of redevelopment. Considering the influence of TOD zone and the opening up of the green belt for development, it would be most beneficial for the residents in these sites to go for redevelopment. It is hence oblivious, that developers will also be interested in this site as it would fetch profits. As planners involved in this process, we have aimed to look at a suitable redevelopment program, which benefits both ends of the spectrum
