Bhuj (Gujarat) city generates a quantum of 60-65 MT of Solid waste on a day to day basis. Approximately 90% of this waste generated is transported and dumped in an open yard within the city limits. So far there hasn't been any initiative to transform the disposal activity to a scientific one.
The Project "Dumpsite Rehabilitation and New Scientific Landfill Facility" carried out as a part of SEM3 Infrastructure Project Studio was taken up considering propagation of good sanitation practices and to mitigate negative effects of open dumping of waste and the impact it can have on flora and fauna.
