Agriculture as a economic sector

The study was done as a part of the regional planning studio. The aim was to study agriculture as a economy and employment sector to feed in for the delineation of Vadodara metropolitan region. The region was studied based on secondary data available for various indicators identified like the cropping patterns, irrigation, employment patterns etc. The hypothesis that were raised based on the secondary data were cross verified through a field visit and key stakeholder interactions. The main aim was to identify the prime agricultural regions in order to prevent the ill effects of urban growth though the regional plan.

Summary of indicators and the varied trends.

The methodology that was followed for identificaition of the agriculture rich regions. The prime agriculture regions were identified through comparision of the indicators along with the state and region average.

The regions that were identified as prime regions for agriculture which were to be considered further in the regional plan.
