The moment someone says the word Behrampura, the first thing which flashes in the memory of people is mount pirana (dump site to Ahmedabad) and second is Bombay hotel (informal residential area serving Muslim population which migrated after Gujarat riots). It is not just these two, but a set of various other infrastructure problems which all together form a vicious cycle of never ending problems in Behrampura. 60 % of the ward lacks basic physical infrastructure facilities, 40% of the ward is occupied with industries few out of which are even hazardous. At the same time people are dependent on decentralized systems like soak pits and bore wells, but with no provision of proper roads, there is water logging which is leading to a mixture of industrial effluence with these decentralized systems. With all such odds against us, our ward still survives. The main aim of our APL studio was to study the ward and adopt a holistic approach and provide proposals with would then help our ward's growth and development.
