APS 2016-Chandkheda ward-Transit supportive development

The aim of area planning lab is to expose students to various aspects of planning to envision the ward through the perspective of municipal planner. After understanding the ward from people perspective we framed our vision to foster balanced growth and provide a rewarding environment and enhanced quality of life, for all residents in Chandkheda. Part of that we focused on proposals which cater to resolve issues in earlier settlements as well as promote upcoming developments. One of such proposal is to promote transit supportive development, surrounding the corridors in such a way that it complements the residential neighbourhood in this fringe area. In Ahmedabad development however TOZ is about Mixed Use - High Density with 4 FSI and Parking Management which actually demotivates the promotion of public transit and also the regulations are missing on Accessibility to transit, affordability along TOZ and efficient use of Public open spaces. So our intervention would be focusing on these missing links which would enhance the proposal of TOD along SH41 and SH71 corridors.
