As a part of the Semester I studio exercise, we were given an opportunity to explore the different aspects of planning process through the local area plan of a ward.  The ward ofJamalpur is an integral part of the walled city and the historical core of Ahmedabad. Renowned for its rich heritage, the ward is known for its diversity in population, religion, socio economic background. The aim of this studio exercise was to analyze the key strengths, potentials, opportunities and their co-existence with the major challenges in the ward, to develop a vision and eventually a comprehensive ward plan.
