Area Planning Studio : Odhav

The aim of the area planning studio was to have a comprehensive view and intervention regarding the ward. Odhav ward is dominated by industries and the typical household ranges from traditional communities, informal and casual workers (from Gujarat and other states) and a significant percentage of low-income and economically weaker sections. All these form a complex demographical structure. Automation poses further challenges regarding job opportunities and sustainability of livelihood especially for the unskilled and lower income groups. Considering all the factors, provision for housing and land development should have different approaches that should cater affordability as well as react to the market for future opportunities such as job growth. Through this work, an integrated approach has been reached in catering holistically to all sections of the society.
