Odhav- Industry and Livelihood

The aim of the area planning studio is to have a comprehensive view and intervention regarding the ward. Odhav ward is dominated by industries and significant percentage of low income and economically weaker sections. Owing to their low level of skill there is more shift towards informality rather than jobs. The specific skill required by the industry needs to be fulfilled in order to strengthen its linkage. Automation poses further challenge regarding the job opportunities and sustainability of livelihood specially the unskilled and lower income group. In view of the changing condition, the present workforce needs to be equipped for industry needs as well as future job diversification. Skill is an important aspect to increase both social security and economic mobility of the population.
