During this semester we studied the daylight metrics, patterns and thumb rules for designing to harness daylight to reduce electric lighting consumption. Through various hands on exercises we studied quantitative and qualitative aspects of lighting. Further simulation tools such as radiance, Dialux and Daysim were learned and used to run simulation for various times of the year and design for good daylight without direct sun penetration. Towards the end of semester we did a whole building integration where we applied all the knowledge gained in the past 3 semesters in a simulation model to come to an optimized solutions possible.
