The project deals with the city of Bundi, also known as the city of stepwells, and aims to increase the awareness around these traditional water harvesting system, both in the locals and the tourist. To create a series of spaces, which work in twofold- one to create interest within the tourist, and enhance the existing experience of these grand systems. The other, to create a set of interactive learning spaces where the knowledge can be provided via schooling at an early age. These spaces could also be used to hold workshops for the local adults, bringing them into the retrieval process as well. The idea is to integrate the multi-layered experience of the bundi stepwells into the building via reflecting the existing language and creating a dynamic, multi-faceted experience. The building has a strong visual connection with the kund at all different levels, and eventually leads to it as the final destination.
