FOUNDATION STUDIO

1) Building Craft: This module emphasized the importance of craft and building craft in the traditional, vernacular and contemporary buildings. It introduced with looking at craft and craft practices in the traditional and vernacular context and also contemporary craft practice. The studio also focused at design innovation through craft-collaborations which involves site-visits to various craft clusters and working with craftspeople to co-create innovative interior architecture prototypes.
 2) History and Theory: This module focussed with a comprehensive study of Design History in making of India. Wide-angled with key events, invasions and overthrows, religion and dynastical developments, people, social and economic impacts. This module trailed the reasoning in design thinking of built spaces in India. The studio introduced a different way of understanding history and it was divided into two parts Historical Mapping and Research paper on Indian history and its building environment.
3) Computational Design: The Studio aimed to investigate the design process through experimentation based on systems and their behaviour. It involves analogue experiments exploring materials and material systems. This module introduced to computation tools like Rhino and Grasshopper and their application as a parametric design tool and introduction to the theory of generative design process.
