Ahmadabad stands 14th in Swachh Bharat ranking with huge scope for further improvement. It lacks in terms of segregation and disposal of waste. Involvement of rag pickers in mainstream was focused to improve segregation at source and at transfer station. This will reduce the waste quantity going to dump site and improve the treatment efficiency of treatment plants. Any plan will not work in absence of financial backup to it. So, it was tried to improve the cost recovery of the city in solid waste sector. It included improving the own source income of city and reduce the revenue expenditure.
