AUTO STATION, AHMEDABAD

The automotive industry of India is one of the largest in the world, with an annual production of nearly 24 million vehicles. The automobile industry accounts for 7.1% of the country’s gross domestic product. The two wheeler segment with 81% is the leader of the Indian automobile market. Looking at the history of India in automotive industry, it is tremendous in the reference of the products that are designed and manufactured since early 1900’s till today and will, also in the future. As the technology has changed and is advancing so fast that a museum will be a mode to capture what is lost. INTENTIONS! The major architectural intention would be to explore the type of museums. Museum were object buildings filled with objects in cases, about which apart from their physicality, we can now learn from the media. In the scenario of an explosion of new technologies and the consequent increase in media literacy, means that there has to be a change in the museum as a space. How should a museum be? The museums inevitably have to become more dynamic and experimental, changing and theatrical, rather than monumental and static. This project will be in the form of architectural experimentation in which creative spaces will move away from static architectural spaces towards dynamic mediated experiences. To provide an empirical experience rather than informative experience. To explore various forms and scales of built forms and spaces constantly dealing with these ideas.
The site is in Ahmedabad as it is centrally located in Gujarat and well connected by roads and railways with the country. The site is located near Auto World Vintage Car Museum, Dastan Farms, Sardar Patel Ring Road. Geographically its location is on SP ring road which is a major connection with the city and also with other cities of Gujarat as well.
