TRANSITION OF THE STAIRCASE

PROPOSITION: The design of a staircase is a by-product of its times. Staircases are a feature, which can tell us about how the architect approaches a building design, and how design ideas prevalent at that time might have influenced the architect. This monograph is an attempt to decode and understand the factors that have shaped the staircase and thereby the buildings in the past and present times. Thereby realizing the factors that have changed, those which have accented through the past and that have come into existence in the present.
