Mahesana is a class 1 municipality in Northern Gujarat. The city lies in the naturally arid regions of the country and still holds an important share in the production of cash crops in the country. There is an emergence of certain economic drivers around the city such as the DFC corridor (DMIC), Bechraji SIR and Bhandu Logistics Hub all coming up in the vicinity. This poses a challenge for the city to provide affordable housing options not only for the migrant population but also for the people who find the only affordable option in SLUMS.
