library for gandhi foundation

Gandhi ashram has an environment where equal importance is given to the inside spaces and the voids created by those spaces. This feature would help a library to become more interactive. The two main features of a library are the storages for books and a place to read. These two spaces have their own characteristics. They are different from each other and hence can be two different experiences in a library. The journey from Gandhi Ashram to the Riverfront starts in the semi open spaces and pathways covered by the canopies of the trees and towards the end you are thrown in the expanse of the river. The play of transition through different scales of spaces is an interesting phenomenon happening in the libraries.
