RECONNECTING WITH RIVER - Usmanpura Riverfront park

Usmanpura River front park is a city level park created along western bank of sabarmati river. The park  extends  linearly  along the river edge, sharing viewpoints to the  river from an elevated height. with wide open spaces and play scapes ,the park serving as a major refreshment area for the city residents and all user groups. The design addresses the need for enhancing the existing spatial character and viewpoints from the park to the river and Redesigning the visual connectivity within the park Introducing the change in visual character by incorporating elements  of the rivers natural edge in the form of controlled wilderness through landscape design. The experience of visitor can be enhanced by improving the feel of surfaces and textures of the landscape by having interactive designed spaces including hardscape and soft cape Inclusion of natural play areas which encourages physical activity and used by different age groups and also creates awareness on environment.  The aim of the project is to transform the park into urban retreat where visitors can reconnect themselves with the missing nature within the concrete spaces of the city. Natural play scapes, Orchard garden, urban farming spaces brings in awareness about the city and its people connection to the river.
