Ahmedabad in a Narrative: Redeveloping Bhadra Square

Historic city center whose original outline could still be traced, but that had been greatly encroached upon and suffered from intense traffic congestion, no pedestrian demarcation, unorganized informal activities, under utilized open spaces as well as noise and air pollution. This design explore the potential of the architectural interventions to capture the nuances of the city of Ahmedabad. Living heritage, this place is conceived as an event – an experience that recreates the pulse of the vibrant city of Ahmedabad and its enterprising people. The quality and character of a vast public space with leisure areas where trees and shade, fountains and seating make it a place for people from all parts of the city to gather, celebrate, shop and recreate.
