It is easier to climb up on a ladder than to get down from it. Part of the reason why it is so is that when a person is climbing up, he can see the steps he has to keep foot on and not necessarily look towards the ground. It is comparatively more challenging to get down from a ladder since one cannot see the next step he/she has to step on, and have to come down almost entirely on judgement. A ladder has a fixed number of steps and fixed spacing. This exercise focuses on finding an alternative solution to climbing up with more flexibility and safety when coming down compared to traditional ladders.
