Crowd Management

Ahmedabad Junction Railway Station located in Kalupur, is one of the busiest railway station in the western railways zone, under the Ahmedabad division. With a number of 12 platforms and 14 tracks, and with over all 188 halting trains, 67 trains each originating and departing from Kalupur Station, it occupies a footfall of 2,80,000 people per day. Two foot over bridges, North and South located facilitates the movement of passengers from each platform to the entries and exits .Crowd management is defined as the systematic planning for, and supervision of the orderly movement and assembly of people. It involves the assessment of the people handling capabilities of a space prior to use. It includes evaluation of projected levels of occupancy, adequacy of means of ingress and egress, processing procedures such as ticket collection, and expected types of activities and group behavior.
