The city of Vadodara has a long evolutionary background of its talavs (lakes), which are very ancient. In the present scenario, the condition of the talavs are not as good as most of the talavs are gradually decreasing as well as their condition is gradually deteriorating because most of them are filled with solid wastes, sewage outfall, as well as the talavs, are being encroached by residential and by slums. So the idea is to conserve or to rejuvenate the talavs taking the pilot project of two talavs 9Hathi and Mahadev Talav) demonstrating with micro-level intervention.
