The objective of the studio is to facilitate joint exploration of various facets of Metropolitan Planning in Chennai: the delineation of Metropolitan Areas, scope and content of their plans the governance structure and their functional domains. As far as regional plans are concerned, they have been largely an extension of urban plans both in terms of processes and contents and have not been very effective. There were four modules (i) Understanding Metropolitan Area and Planning at Metropolitan Scale Demarcation, Contents and processes (ii) International Comparative Study at Metropolitan ScaleMonocentric Governance and Polycentric Governance (iii) Sectoral Project at Metropolitan Scale (4 weeks) (iv) Preparation of Strategic Metropolitan Planning.
