'OUR' Public Space?

This map shows the chaotic scenario in and around the Queens tomb. Much of the area outside is occupied by storage, parking and unlicensed vendors. Many houses in the periphery are touching the monument and some private properties have extended plinths that occupy the public realm. Inside the tomb, many spaces have been occupied by storage and one of the corner space has been occupied by a family of 4 members, who claim it as their space. The clear lack of space in the periphery has resulted in children occupying the thresholds to play and in the sacred spaces of the tomb. This project wants to address the above mentioned issues and create areas of play, storage, provide legal houses to the residents of the tomb and create good public realm outside in the periphery of the tomb.
