PARIVARTAN- reinterpreting transit oriented developement

Pune, the cultural capital of Maharashtra state is undergoing rapid urbanization following transit-oriented development. The vision of Pune by 2030, includes, metro, BRTS corridor, monorail, bicycle track and pedestrianization of streets like Laxmi road. In regards to accommodate the above transportation systems, the change in the FSI and urban form is inevitable. The FSI along the transit corridors have been increased to 4 for mixed used development. Amidst all this, a concern towards the transformation of the urban fabric emerges. The change in the urban form and TOD is not holistically viewed. The urban form is compromised to accommodate the transportation system which gives rise to the typical high-density high rises with glass facades. The Project aims at reinterpreting the concept of TOD, contextualizing it to Pune by finding alternative solutions to the regulations which can be implied on the built form to increase the open space and reclaim them on the streets and integrating them by enhancing last mile connectivity.
