Road to urbanization

The project deals with improving the accessibility of a residential neighbourhood by introducing shared walkways which help in linking the Senadutta Peth with a busy primary street with mixed use thereby also integrating the residential peth with the public transport The objectives of this project were basically to increase the permeability of the blocks to reduce walk length. Creating shorter journeys from houses to shops and improving the walking condition on the streets. Also making the streets vendor friendly and integrating it with the existing public transport. The design implementation involved the creation of multiple walkways which could provide multiple routes to reach the same destination. There has been provided sufficient space for the vendors and an extra layer of shared cycle track has been added to the footpath. To increase the use of intermediate para transit multiple bus stands have been placed near the various entry and exits of the neighbourhood.
