Stagnant development at Manekbaug, Ambawadi

The pace of urbanisation has increased in past decades, due to attraction to urban areas for jobs, economic stability, better quality of life etc. Hence urbanisation is a key driver of development for a city. It is important to know how our neighbourhood functions in terms of social, economic and cultural aspects. Therefore, the studio aims to ‘Understand the city’ by taking forward the study of 1 sq.km precinct at Ambawadi. This is carried forward by the methodology of understanding and analysing all parameters such as evolution of the region, land characteristics, streets, infrastructure, people, jobs and their livelihood. The idea is to understand the character of the space, people’s behaviour towards transformation, weather the transformation in the region is rapid or stagnant and the triggers for the same. This portfolio is a representation of all the parameters and how directly or indirectly it affects the growth of the city.
