Understanding The precinct Naranpura

The studio mainly focused on the theme called “Understanding the city” to equip students with conceptual, methodological and commuication skills to deal with the real world urban situation and problems. This report contains the work of the spring 2018 planning studio. The reports cites about the area named NARANPURA located in west Ahmedabad.Naranpura is a residential area, mostly dominated by hindus and jains and also has population comprising of south indians , punjabis, parsi and sindhis. As per DP2021 the area comes under Residential R1 zone and Toz but along with residential land use there exsits commercial, institutional and mixed landuse.The builtform mostly consists of detached bungalows followed by semi detached and apartments . Chawls also form substantial amount of built typology in the area. The area consists of public gardens ,museum, power plant and very old swami narayan temple loacted right in the center of the area. The area has good infrastructure facilities as well as good connectivity to public transport.
