OASIS- Research and Resource centre for the Agariyas

The project catering to the nomadic, marginalized community of salt farmers in LRK is envisaged as having two components- a base facility for research and resource management, serving as a pilot project, in the nearby village of Kharaghoda and temporary, mobile pods extending from this facility into the desert. The base facility is understood and designed as modular infrastructure rather than a container of specific activities to allow for change overtime. The construction technique of tile vaulting aids in giving agency for making infrastructure to the community and thereby reduces their dependence on external funding, external materials and external skills.
