REVIVING AGHARIYAS THROUGH ART SPACES

Responding the rural as well as the cultural expression of the Aghariya community was my core concern. Bringing art as a medium of education in order to revive the community stigma was a key challenge. Two sites were given and overlapping the functionality of two variant spaces was the primary factors to look at. The building language has been derived from the existing cultural pattern of Kutch dwellings. Along with the load bearing system courtyards and varandahs were the key element of the building. Interms of materiality lime along with brick was a key pallet of expressing the built character.
