The project focuses on creating urban commons for a metropolitan city of Surat by providing a collective identity of the city through heritage open spaces. 
Looking at the diversity of Surat; there was a need for some common identity which can bind everyone together as a city. The proposal also aims for social cohesiveness by creating large public gathering spaces in the city for the various multicultural activities which are tried to achieve by reviving the lost heritage.
