Dahanu Taluka has been declared as ecologically fragile area and green belt left in the state of Maharashtra, thus this area is particularly important in terms of its location, value and the rich natural resources it possesses and so, it requires protection. The idea is to identify the barren lands and fruit orchards which are untended and on the verge of degradation which require restoration and conservation. In Gholvad-Bordi region the most of the vegetation cover consist of orchard plantations- mostly chikoo which is also a major economic source of the whole region. The specific design intent is to identify and select one of such site assumed to be an orchard land which can be adopted and restored by the nearby land owners. The proposal looks at a self-sustain model and demonstrations for the nearby orchards of the region.
