Like many other planned cities of its time, Gandhinagar faces the key issue of urban fragmentation. The city was originally planned around the concepts of motorisation that went on to become a huge part of all city planning in the years to follow. The same concepts have however left the city now completely bereft of the human scale and organic evolution of public life and spaces. This creates an opportunity to reimagine and design the city in a way to create an inward movement of the density rather than an outward growth.
