Cities are known as ‘ Engines of Growth’, constantly in a state of flux, trying to reconfigure themselves to suit their contemporary context. However, some cities in spite of great planning efforts in their inception fail to adapt and regenerate itself. Gandhinagar, the capital of the state of Gujarat (India) is to facing similar problems of adaptation even after 50 years of its inception and fails to attract people to densify it. The aim of the studio was to look at a regenerative model for a particular sector of the city trying to understand it through the lens of urban design strategies. The focus of the studio was to generate connections between people and places, movement and urban form, nature and the built fabric and demonstrate these connections through a master plan and a detailed design of a place in the public realm within the sector.
