NESTERVILLE

An increase in the temperature of the earth has resulted in the ice caps melting. A 100 years from now, everything known to humans will be submerged in the water. In Mumbai, the lower levels evacuated and people moved to the upper levels, untouched by water. To avoid overcrowding, construction is done to build a civilisation that floats on the water. The floating city is built in a cluster of four surrounding an old submerged building, anchored to a common base. The buildings of the clusters are connected to the adjacent buildings at different levels. They are attached such that if in the future, the water level increases or decreases, the buildings move along with it. The façade of the building is a surface with tubes stacked together, between the tubes there is a filling that absorbs energy during the day and at night, it is self-luminescent. The slums of Mumbai occupy the upper most level of the submerged buildings. Each of the buildings of the cluster will have a horizontal surface, farming is done by the people of the community. Each cluster produces its own food. For transportation, each of the buildings are connected to each other using tying mechanism and boat like vehicles move in a predefined route. And for longer distances, ships are used.
