Sewerage Management for Jamalpur Ward

Jamalpur Ward in Central Zone of Ahmedabad has a sewerage network laid out almost 80 years ago. Population pressure and lack of maintenance of sewers has led to blocking of sewers as the major problem of the ward.
52% of the complaints registered in the ward between March, 17 and Feb, 18 through AMC-CCRS were related to Drainage. The ratio of average drainage complaints received to complaints resolved per day is 6:4. Only 26% of complaints were resolved within SLA period. The working conditions of sewer workers also need much attention in terms of safety.
To increase efficiency of drainage maintenance works, sufficient staff is employed. The gap between actual complaints resolved and complaints closed on CCRS server is filled by introducing feedback of citizens for every complain. Sewer workers are provided with safety devices, protective equipment for any type of maintenance work even if it is with the use of machines. AMC supervisors are required to upload work pictures on AMC 311 app to ensure usage of safety devices. GIS mapping of sewer system is proposed with integration to CCRS to reduce time taken for complaint redressal and efficiency of maintenance works. A Preventative Maintenance Plan is worked out after a Sewer Assessment Survey, and identifying problematic areas within ward requiring immediate rehabilitation or maintenance.
