Rental housing strategies for Rajkot

The struggle to obtain decent and affordable housing could affect at least 1.6 billion people globally within a decade. The affordable housing gap would grow from 330 million urban households to 440 million by 2025.( Mckinsey, 2015). The studio focuses on understanding urban housing scenario and narrowing the affordability gap through urban housing plan and strategy. For this purpose, Rajkot is chosen as a case and housing strategies are formulated for the city.
I have formulated strategies for the rental market which will enable all income groups and provide for the households below the affordability line. This includes an understanding of existing policies and framework in rental market of the city, recommendations to the same, viability analysis, institutional and financial structure for the proposal along with the potential sources of revenue generated by them.
