The Project is aimed at improving about 1,500 kilometres of major district roads (MDRs) in state of Madhya Pradesh, in line with the state road development plane for 2013 – 2033. It will involve upgrading MDRs to an intermediate lane width of 5.5 m or two lane width of 7 m , depending on traffic requirement; reconstruction, widening and strengthening culverts and bridges; and maintaining the improved road assert for 5 years period after construction
