The Open Workshop

The project germinates from a concern to disseminate the traditional practices of crafts to the city dwellers at Baroda focusing on the younger generation who are shifting from these practices. The project, therefore, is an interface that attempts it at two levels: 1. Programmatic standpoint - to actively engage the city dwellers with the crafts through workshops and display. 2. Architectural standpoint - Focused at innovation along with tradition for a space making that is specific and conducive to the act of craft making. It invokes the character of streets and yards, that gives different craft activities the opportunity to co-exist with each other.
