Sangam: Exploring therapeutic value of water

CONNECTION WITH THE WATER-Apart from water being an important aspect in the hydrological system, the physical presence of it is often used for the purpose of recreation, where water is treated as an “Ammuser”. Often people visit the Dumas beach over the weekends to have pyaaz bhajiya or to the river front along the river edge to see the ammusing lights. There also sits an informal markets like shanivari bazaar and other slum encroachments which often leads to accumulation of waste and garbage at the edges. There are also ponds and lakes which have been transformed into an esthetically good looking place with the fascinating colourfull lights, fancy sittings, recreational activity like boating, etc. The creeks and canals which help in diverting the access water during the heavy rains are often dry in the other months of the year and becomes a neglected places. Clearly, water here is considered as an ammuser with the additional decoration done to it or has remained as the backdrop or neglected space.
